Marilyn Pomfret

Marilyn Pomfret worked tirelessly to advance opportunities for girls and women in competitive sports. At UBC, she coached the Thunderbirds volleyball team to two national titles and served as Women’s Athletic Director for over a decade. She also helped introduce national championships for women’s university sports and established the BC High School girls volleyball tournament.

Vale Savege

Vale Savege competed on both the National Volleyball and Basketball Teams. Vale co-founded the SFU Women’s Volleyball program and was the first female to officiate an international match in Japan. Vale is the first female to be recognized as a Volleyball Canada Lifetime Member.

Sandy Silver

Sandy Silver has contributed to women’s Volleyball as an athlete, coach, official and builder. She was the first female Assistant Coach of the Canadian Women’s National Team and one of the first female full time university head coaches in Canada when hired by UBC in 1979.
